Arkham Asylum: Beyond the Walls of Sleep

Arkham Asylum was built on the hope that treatment of those deemed 'unfit to dwell among society' would see the end to the downfall of Gotham. Amadeus Arkham, the man responsible for the institution, dreamed of a world where men responsible for murder and mayhem could be rehabilitated before being returned to society. His belief was that every mental ailment could be cured. Unfortunately, basic treatment failed to work. Amadeus began using more extreme measures to try and help his patients... which led only to death after death. Eventually he was institutionalized in his own hospital, where he lived until his very last breath was taken.

Throughout the years, the asylum has changed hands a few times. Each year has seen the introduction of new therapy methods and experimental medications, each year has introduced new hopefuls into employment. Some of the novice employees are completely unaware of the brutal techniques used to break the human mind. ...Others seek out employment for those very reasons.

No matter the reason, it's safe to say that those employees who step foot through the front door are not quite the same person after their first thirty days of working inside Arkham's walls. In fact, it's been said that some of the patients inside once worked along beside the very people who have diagnosed them.

We are an AU Batman board with strict emphasis on Arkham Asylum. Quite simply? The world outside of the security of stone walls does not exist. We posses an open-ended plot... so most everything is up for destruction creation.

We accept canons and originals. Sanity need not apply. Please remember that Arkham is a criminal facility... eating disorders won't be accepted... unless you're playing a cannibal.
